Test: Kim test
Video Link
Background/Purpose
The Kim test is done in order to introduce a novel diagnostic test to detect a postero inferior labral lesion of the shoulder.
Procedure
The examiner is required to hold the elbow and lateral aspect of the proximal arm while the patient will be sitting in a position with the arm 90 degrees of abduction. A strong axial loading force is applied to the arm and it is elevated 45 degrees upward in the diagonal position. After it, the downward as well as backward force is applied to the proximal arm. A sudden onset of posterior shoulder pain shows a positive test result, regardless of accompanying posterior clunk of the humeral head.
Performed: Bilaterally
