Video Link
Background/Purpose
Procedure
This test assess ankle mobility in a closed kinetic chain environment. The subject kneels with one foot in front of the other. The subject then leans forward onto the front foot as far as possible without the foot coming off the ground. The knee should be able to travel about 5 inches. The tibial angle relative to the vertical plane should be about 50 degrees.
This test could be limited by the opposite hips limited extension capability in which case the test can be performed by having the patient place their test on an elevated surface. Additionally, a knee flexion limitation can also give a false result.
Performed: Unilaterally
