Video Link
Background/Purpose
Procedure
This test will assess unilateral hip mobility/stability in a non-weight bearing position.
Patient lies prone on table with arms at sides or underneath their forehead. Patient extends hip, with a straight knee, upward as far as possible.
A fail may indicate a hip joint or tissue dysfunction involving mobility or stability. A pass may indicate a core stability dysfunction.
Having the patient perform an abdominal brace may help differentiate a stability/motor control problem.
